In the Statics course, students learn how to compute the centroid of a composite cross-sectional area. To help students improve their proficiency in centroid calculations, The Centroids Game was developed. This game is constructed in two parts, each with multiple levels (termed rounds), designed to lead the student from recognition of a proper calculation to the ability to correctly perform the calculation. The first part called The Centroids Game – Learning the Ropes, includes 6 rounds, and the second part of the game, called The Centroids Game – Master of the Realm, continues the same game format as the first part (Philpot et al, 2003).
