At the opening keynote for the 4th Games for Health Europe Conference (Utrecht, 27-28th Oct), Ben Sawyer called for health games developers to aim for scaleable and globally competitive games, rather than narrowly focused, diseased centred games. This is a tough call to make, and might at first seem somewhat contradictory. But it is perhaps the difference between having a large impact on a few people, versus a smaller impact on a much larger group of people up to population level. Both approaches are desirable and commendable, it is perhaps then a question of the best strategy to help grow serious games for health.
